The urn is accessed from the back with a wooden panel secured with four screws. The inner compartment of the Transitions Urn with Cardinal Stained Glass Panel is sized to hold the brass urn insert by Howard Miller (available for add-on purchase), the plastic urn container provided by many funeral homes, or an ash bag.

If using the brass urn insert, please note that the insert has a permanent snap-lock closure and cannot be re-opened once ashes are placed inside. The Transitions Urn can be opened and closed as desired. The capacity of the brass insert is 240 cubic inches, which would accommodate the ashes of a person who weighed 240 lbs. or less prior to cremation.
